About Michael Atkins, West Seattle Attorney
For more than 30 years, Mike Atkins has fought noble battles and won victories big and small for his clients. Not bad for a successful second career that grew out of the failure of a first one. In 1978, Mike opened the real estate office of Atkins and Associates. The firm thrived for several years but couldn’t survive the economic downturn of the mid-1980s.
Mike’s Faith assured him that the best way to turn his career around would be to do the greater good for members of his community.
In 1990, after graduating from the Seattle University School of Law, Mike opened his law office on California Ave SW in West Seattle. Over the years, Mike has successfully obtained fair and equitable results for clients in Arbitration, Trials and the Washington Court of Appeals. However, Mike believes that because the benefits of litigation are usually outweighed by the high costs and risks, most clients can achieve a similar fair and equitable result by compromise and early mediation.
Compassion is a cornerstone to Mike’s practice and his life in whole. It’s common for attorneys to keep an emotional distance from their work, but that approach doesn’t work for Mike or his ideal clients. Mike understands the natural fear that comes with seeing an attorney and strives to make clients feel comfortable and at home from the very first consultation. His goal isn’t to run up the billable clock, it’s to alleviate their worries and champion on their behalf for the least amount of money possible. Good deeds come full circle, so Mike appreciates his life’s many blessings.
Mike is a member of the Washington State Association of Justice (formerly the Washington Trial Lawyers Association), Washington State Bar Family Law Section and the Washington State Bar Real Estate, Trusts and Probate Section. He has two sons and six grandchildren in Seattle and California.
